Emergency Services

The Emergency Department at Salem Memorial Hospital is available around the clock—24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our team of highly skilled medical professionals are always ready to provide care when you need it most. Our nursing staff has well over 200 years of combined nursing experience.

We treat a broad range of medical emergencies, from minor injuries like sprained ankles and cuts requiring stitches to serious, life-threatening conditions, such as heart attacks and strokes. SMH is equipped with around the clock telepsychiatry for anyone in need of emergent psychiatric evaluation. Our physicians are certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), while our experienced nursing staff is trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and emergency care for both adults and children.

When every second counts, our Emergency Department team is specially trained to recognize and respond swiftly to time-sensitive conditions such as heart attacks and strokes. Rapid intervention is critical—and our staff is prepared to act immediately to provide the life-saving care you need, when you need it most.

At Salem Memorial Hospital, your health and safety are our top priorities—anytime, day or night. We have all of the capabilities of caring for our emergency department patients all while maintaining that small town, personable feeling.

Ambulance

Emergency Medical Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Ambulance services are fully staffed with Paramedics, Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMTs), and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS). Our ambulance not only provides prehospital transport and care, but also hospital to hospital transportation if required to provide patients with higher levels of care than what is available at SMH.

Help is just a call away.
Along with providing emergency care for the community, our hospital is now an EMT training site. If you’re interested in a career in EMS contact us.
